Bodywork: The Benefits of Stretching

Do you know what feels better to your body than stretching yourself? Having someone else stretch you.

There is no refuting the benefits stretching has on your body and performance:

  • Decreased pain
  • Increased circulation
  • Increased flexibility
  • Improved muscle function
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Decreased risk of injury
  • Improved workout warm-up and warm-down
  • Decrease stress

But now, when we add “assisted” stretching”  to the menu——- having us stretch you —– you’ll get the extra bonus of:

  • Using less energy.
  • Relaxing a bit more.
  • Targeting hard-to-reach areas.
  • Going a bit beyond your normal comfort thresholds.
  • Tolerating longer hold times.
  • Gaining professional guidance on proper stretching form and technique.

Stretching can be used on almost anyone, from the weekend warrior to the multisport athlete. The specific type of stretching we use (static, dynamic, loaded, hold/relax) will depend upon your specific needs, goals, and sport.

We often show clients how to use simple tools such as lacrosse balls, foam rollers, and bands to complement the stretching techniques we use in the studio. You’ll also get a solid Training Road Map on proper stretching techniques, form, and timing.

Check out our BODYWORK page and see what you could use to help you heal, move and evolve. In combination with other modalities, stretching is an excellent modality to add to your training toolbox.
